To all Talahi Lake members,
As mentioned in the post regarding lake fish stocking a few weeks ago, Edge Aquatic Services is strongly recommending all anglers keep the 10″-14″ bass. This will create larger size bass, a healthier overall fish population, and save us money on forage fish. For a bass to grow 1 lb, it must eat 8 lbs of forage fish!!
In order to help bring this population in check, we will have a Bass Rodeo Roundup Tournament on May 18th and May 19th. All fish will be filleted for your own fish fry or given to charity.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Anglers.
1st Place – $150
2nd Place – $100
3rd Place – $50
Here are the tournament rules:
- Tournament starts each day at 7:00 AM.
- Prizes based on most angler points earned over the two day tournament period. Ties will share prize money.
- Anglers must be lake residents and immediate family members (spouses and children). In addition, each resident may bring one guest angler on their boat.
- Largemouth bass must be between 10” to 14” in overall length using the pinched tail method.
- An angler is awarded one point for each 10” to 14” Bass brought to the check station. Anglers must be able to identify their fish if more than one angler on the boat.
- The check station will be the dock at 412 Suncrest Blvd.
- Check-in time will be from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on each evening. Anglers must be in line at the check-in station before 7:00 PM to be awarded points.
- Fish must be brought to check-in station alive or on ice.
- Captains are responsible for the safety of their crew!
Please call Dave Hickey at 912-484-3061 if you have any questions.
This should be nothing but a good time for lake residents. I hope to have my Grandsons witness the fun!
