From the board

Residents of Talahi Lake

The Talahi Lake Management Corporation board met last night.

Here is an update on lake matters:

Maintenance Status – Estate Management, our service provider, will be here in the next few days for treatment. Current lake temperature as measured by Jackie Johnson is 89 degrees and rising. This will make algae control problematic for the next few weeks. Please give me specific information to share with the management firm if you are having a particular problem. You can email me at Goodwillex@yahoo.com or text me at 321-961 7618. I will post another notice when I have a specific date.

We continue to be concerned about lake service access and are looking at an alternative to the present site.

We have periodically had a lab assessment of lake water quality and plan to have our water tested soon.

John Albright has led an effort to review our spillway condition. Flow is good and John removed quite a bit of debris in the spillway itself. Special thanks to John for his work and leadership. As the spillway runs toward 80, there is some dense growth that will need attention in stages. Some maintenance is needed on the spillway catch grate. We will need some welding done on the rebar that protects the spillway from debris. If you have experience and can volunteer please let John or me know.

We continue to be concerned about construction and other debris coming on to the lake. Please make sure your docks and bulkheads are secure and replace weak areas as necessary. In particular, check on any railroad ties or other material containing creosote. Those materials are both chemically and physically dangerous.

Several legal matters were reviewed. We have not engaged or committed any funds for legal services to date.

We are on budget.

I am honored to serve with this board. They are wise, engaged and committed to preserving one of the best lakes in the area.

Bill Oakley

President, Talahi Lake Management Corporation
