Owner Update for 406 Suncrest Blvd

Good afternoon, Talahi neighbors! This is Abigail Woods the owner to 406 Suncrest Blvd. We apologize for any unknowns for our variance request. We did not know there was a website blog, so we just got signed in this past week. I have seen someone posted the variance board and the city has sent letters.

This variance request is for a screen porch we are trying to put on the back of our home. Prior to us buying the house, an addition had been done on the home and left very little room before touching our setbacks. We asked the city to build our porch and because 2ft 3in of one corner of the porch crosses our setback, we legally have to ask for a variance. My advisor with building and safety I met with prior to submitting my variance request did not say any notice was needed to my surrounding neighbors since it was not breaking any neighborhood covenants nor dealing with any lake easements, strictly my own property and my own property setback. So we completely understand how getting the letter from the city was not expected by those who did since the city said they would do it for us. I did chat with my two direct neighbors who touch my property and all were in agreement no sightlines would be disturbed for them.

We have been hearing of misinformation from distant neighbors telling others about where our porch is going and so I wanted to come on and just let anyone who is curious or feels any concerns, my husband and I would be happy to talk to anyone with questions and avoid extra confusion. We are just trying to have a space screened in the back so we can enjoy the nights and not be mosquito central when those mean buggers are out.
