Talahi lake’s Whistling Ducks

Black-bellied Whistling-Duck | Audubon Field Guide

Thank you to Kathrine Owens for identifying these “whistling Ducks” that have taken up residence on our lake. I have been curious about these visitors for some time, but I couldn’t pinpoint their species. If you have been curious about these “squealers,” too, click on this link for their interesting story.  https://www.ducks.org/conservation/waterfowl-research-science/whistling-ducks

  • I have been excited about seeing these because a friend of mine has had them come to her house and lake off Deerwood Road for several years and I have always wondered why they didn’t come here. They are there also now. But she doesn’t have as many as we do though.
I have had fun trying to get good pictures but they sure are fast. I got a good recording though. I’ve enjoyed them too.
