Shawn Woods, Regional Manager for Estates Management, came by yesterday to evaluate the weed situation. He identified the weeds as “Slender Pond Weed.” He said this type of weed is not that hard to control. He said that one reason why is so widespread and thick in shallow water is that the lake is down and the sun gets to the bottom and causes faster and thicker growth.
His plan is to use three different herbicides at one time. He will apply three treatments over a 3-4 week period. The first treatment will start next week pending on the weather. The reason he stretches it out over 3-4 weeks is to prevent harm to the fish.
We also discussed why lake residents should not blow grass clippings into the lake. The grass clippings are full of nutrients which eventually spreads into the water and promotes weed growth.

Thx, Jimmy. Hope for rain to fill the lake but nothing else! Go away Dorian!
Stay safe to all of you that stayed put!
The first of the 3 treatments will start Thursday 9/12.
